TV5MONDE USA Expands National Presence

LOS ANGELES: TV5MONDE USA has inked a new carriage deal with Mediacom Communications that increases the French-language entertainment channel’s distribution to 16 states in the U.S.

Under the agreement, Mediacom customers in Iowa and select parts of Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, Georgia, Alabama and Florida will have access to TV5MONDE USA starting this month. Among the network’s upcoming programming highlights are Epicerie Fine, a food-themed show led by Guy Martin; the sixth season of A French Village (Un Village Français), a drama series; Rockin’ Class Hero, a documentary about Roberto Piazza; César and Rosalie (César et Rosalie), a romantic movie; and the drama films Looking for Her (Je vous souhaite d’être follement aimée) and Open Eyes (Les yeux ouverts).

Yves Bigot, TV5MONDE’s general manager, said: “We look forward to beginning our new partnership with Mediacom that will allow TV5MONDE USA to offer their subscribers a wonderful and varied lineup of French-language entertainment across multiple programming genres.”

Italia Commisso Weinand, Mediacom’s executive VP of programming and human resources, added: “The launch of TV5MONDE USA and its French-themed programming adds another high-quality foreign-language channel to Mediacom’s lineup that further expands the needs of our multicultural footprint.”
