TNT Renews Animal Kingdom, Slates All Elite Wrestling

TNT has renewed its original drama Animal Kingdom for a fifth season and has set a two-hour slot on Wednesdays to air matches from All Elite Wrestling (AEW), which kicks off October 2.

Animal Kingdom, which stars Emmy and Tony winner Ellen Barkin, is reaching nearly 18 million viewers this season so far across all platforms. The series is one of this year’s top ten U.S. cable dramas in the 18-to-49 demo in Live+7 ratings.

Additionally, WarnerMedia revealed that the new AEW professional wrestling league will begin airing its two-hour weekly matches on TNT on Wednesday, October 2, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. The matches will take place in different cities across the U.S. each week on Wednesdays, starting in Washington, D.C., at the Capital One Arena. AEW features a world-class roster of diverse male and female wrestlers, headlined by Cody and Brandi Rhodes, The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson), Kenny Omega, Hangman Adam Page, Chris Jericho and Jon Moxley.

Meanwhile, at TBS, writer, director and producer Keenen Ivory Wayans has been tapped to serve as showrunner on season three of The Last O.G., starring Tracy Morgan and Tiffany Haddish. Co-created and executive produced by Academy Award winner Jordan Peele, The Last O.G. launched as U.S. cable’s number one comedy in 2018.
