Syfy Orders Wil Wheaton-Led Comedy Show

NEW YORK: Syfy has given the go-ahead to 12 episodes of The Wil Wheaton Project, a tentatively titled topical comedy show presented by Wil Wheaton, an actor and blogger.

The Wil Wheaton Project will discuss various trending topics pertaining to science-fiction films, TV shows and pop culture, video games, viral videos and news. The 30-minute weekly series is slated to premiere on Tuesday, May 27 at 10 p.m. It is being produced by Pilgrim Studios.

Wheaton is known for his roles in Stand By Me and Star Trek: The Next Generation. He recently had recurring roles in Eureka on Syfy, Leverage on TNT and The Big Bang Theory on CBS.

“Wil Wheaton’s rock star status within the genre fan base, along with his insatiable passion for all things pop culture, make him the ideal arbiter of what’s hot and what’s not in the genre space,” noted Dave Howe, the president of Syfy. “Wil’s legion of fans will relish his wry sense of humor and sharp wit, coupled with his unique commentary on the most popular genre entertainment out there.”
