Sumner Redstone to Step Down from Viacom Board

NEW YORK: Sumner Redstone is stepping down from Viacom’s board in February 2017, but will remain chairman emeritus.

According to a company filing, Redstone will continue to participate in board meetings in a “non-voting role.” He will remain chairman emeritus, a title he transitioned to last February after giving up his post as chairman.

Earlier this week, Redstone’s National Amusements withdrew its proposal for the merger of CBS and Viacom.
