New Licensees On Board for 30th Anniversary of Labyrinth

HOLLYWOOD: The Jim Henson Company has appointed new apparel and figurines licensing partners to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the classic fantasy film Labyrinth, starring David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly.

New apparel partners include Trademark Products in the U.K. and Zen Monkey Studios in the U.S. Funko, meanwhile, signed on to create stylized figures. The new licensees join an existing roster of Labyrinth partners that includes Truffle Shuffle for apparel, ceramics, bags and prints in the U.K.; River Horse for board games in the U.S., Canada and select territories within Europe and the Asia-Pacific region; Card Corporation for debit cards in the U.S. and Canada; Toy Vault for plush, novelty and games in the U.S.; Boom Entertainment for worldwide publishing; Trevco for apparel, bedding and home in the U.S.; Ripple Junction for apparel, posters and pins in the U.S., Canada and the U.K.; and Insight Editions for publishing in the U.S.

Retail partners for the brand include Hot Topic, Art.com, SevenTimesSix.com and Zulily. As part of the 2016 Labyrinth retail program, The Jim Henson Company and partners are releasing new branded products. Publisher Insight Editions is releasing Labyrinth: The Ultimate Visual History in October. River Horse will debut this summer the family game Jim Henson’s Labyrinth: The Board Game.

Additionally, there will be ongoing Labyrinth screenings throughout the U.S., as well as special anniversary screenings and local events this fall. Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is on board with a limited-engagement theatrical run through Fathom Events. The film, newly restored in 4K, will be shown in select movie theaters in the U.S. on September 11 and 14. The theatrical engagements will feature exclusive content, and following the theatrical re-release, the movie will be out on Blu-ray and next-generation 4K Ultra HD on September 20. The Blu-ray will feature a Digibook package with rare photos and behind-the-scenes content. In addition, the film will be released as a limited edition gift set that includes the Digibook in unique “mirrorbox” packaging inspired by the film’s final scene. It will initially retail exclusively at Amazon.
