Netflix Coming to Comcast Set-Top Boxes

NEW YORK: Netflix and Comcast have reached an agreement that will see the streaming service being made available through the cable operator’s X1 set-top box later this year.

In the past, the two had been outspoken opponents; Netflix was one of the first major companies to publicly oppose Comcast’s takeover of Time Warner Cable. Though the terms of the new pact have not yet been revealed, the two said in a joint statement that the aim is to provide “seamless access to the great content offered by both companies.”

“We have much work to do before the service will be available to consumers later this year,” Netflix and Comcast said. “We’ll provide more details at that time.”
