LOS ANGELES/NEW YORK: Blumhouse Productions, the outfit behind such horror franchises as The Purge and Insidious, has entered into a branded-content production partnership with NBCUniversal.

Through the venture, Blumhouse and NBCUniversal will develop Millennial-focused video content with select advertising clients that can be scaled across platforms. In addition, Blumhouse Productions, in partnership with Red Seat Ventures, is launching Blumhouse.com, a digital portal for horror content featuring a mix of original and curated genre titles.

“What I love most about working with genre filmmakers is the incredible community of creatives and fans who embrace the odd, the strange and the different,” said Jason Blum, the founder and CEO of Blumhouse Productions. “So it made perfect sense to try and create an online home for that community with Blumhouse.com. We are excited to extend our partnership with NBCUniversal and work with Red Seat Ventures to provide more and more platforms for the best minds for all things scary.”

“In today’s cross-platform media landscape, it is more important than ever to partner with the right people and invest in and create original video content that resonates with viewers,” said Linda Yaccarino, the chairman of advertising sales and client partnerships for NBCUniversal. “Jason and his team at Blumhouse are the experts at scaring up Millennial audiences and our partnership is another addition to our collection of branded production capabilities.”
