NEW YORK: This summer marks the final season for Futurama, which began running on Comedy Central in June 2010 after it was cancelled by FOX, where it ran from 1999 to 2003.

A brand-new 13-episode run is slated for Comedy Central, launching with back-to-back episodes on June 19. The series finale is scheduled for September 4. The show’s entire original voice cast will be returning for the final run.

Comedy Central is celebrating the final season with a host of bonus content on CC.com. This includes weekly episode previews, highlights and photo galleries. The channel will begin its summer-long celebration of the final season with the launch of "Countdown to Futurama" on Facebook. This will feature new and exclusive content daily, including clips, episode stills, character designs and more.

"I’m very proud of the upcoming season. If this is indeed the end of Futurama, it’s a fantastic finish to a good, long run," said creator and executive producer Matt Groening.

“Having the opportunity to bring Futurama back for 52 episodes over these last four years has been a thrill for all of us at Comedy Central. The upcoming season promises to be the best final season of Futurama yet,” added Dave Bernath, Comedy Central’s executive VP of program strategy and multi-programming.
