Freeform Greenlights Cosmopolitan Magazine-Inspired Drama

BURBANK: Freeform has ordered to series the new drama The Bold Type (formerly titled Issues), inspired by the life of Cosmopolitan Magazine‘s Joanna Coles.

Set to premiere in summer 2017, the scripted series follows the outrageous lives and loves of those responsible for the global women’s magazine Scarlet. The series, a Universal Television and The District production, stars Katie Stevens (Faking It), Aisha Dee (Chasing Life), Meghann Fahy (Political Animals), Sam Page (House of Cards) and Matt Ward (Remedy), with Melora Hardin (Transparent) as Jacqueline, editor-in-chief of Scarlet Magazine.

Freeform also announced the return of The Bachelor’s spin-off Happily Ever After? franchise, which will continue with a new unscripted series, The Twins: Happily Ever After? The network’s critically acclaimed family drama The Fosters has been greenlit for a fifth season, which will bring the series to the momentous 100-episode mark. Meanwhile, Young & Hungry will return for a fifth season in March, debuting alongside season six of Baby Daddy.
