FOX Renews New Girl for Sixth Season

LOS ANGELES: The comedy series New Girl, which stars Zooey Deschanel, is returning to FOX for a sixth season.

New Girl is about a quirky young woman and her three male roommates. The show is produced by 20th Century Fox Television. It was created by Elizabeth Meriwether, who serves as executive producer alongside Brett Baer, Dave Finkel, Jake Kasdan, Peter Chernin and Katherine Pope. Meriwether, Baer and Finkel are also co-showrunners and writers.

“Every network comedy should aspire to what Liz Meriwether is achieving in New Girl, with its bravura dialogue, inventive and witty performances by the talented cast and emotionally engaging storytelling,” said David Madden, the president of entertainment at Fox Broadcasting Company. “The series is as creatively strong today as it ever was, we want to congratulate New Girl on reaching its milestone 100th episode and we can’t wait for the next subversive and hilarious chapter of these characters’ lives.”
