CBS Adds New Comedy Superior Donuts to 2016-17 Schedule

BURBANK: CBS has ordered the half-hour, multi-camera comedy Superior Donuts, which stars newcomer Jermaine Fowler alongside comedy legend Judd Hirsch.

The show follows the relationship between the gruff owner (Hirsch) of a small donut shop, his enterprising new young employee (Fowler) and their loyal patrons in a quickly gentrifying Chicago neighborhood. Produced by CBS Television Studios, the series received a 12-episode order in addition to the pilot episode. CBS Studios International distributes the title.

“This show has been very high on our radar since we first put it into development last winter,” said Glenn Geller, the president of CBS Entertainment. “Jermaine Fowler is a rising young star, Judd Hirsch is a comedy legend and the entire cast is full of great comedic talent. We’re very excited to expand our comedy lineup with Superior Donuts.”
