Voltage TV Hires Tinder Swindler’s Sam Starbuck

Voltage TV has appointed Sam Starbuck, who executive produced Tinder Swindler, as creative director of documentaries.

In the newly created role, Starbuck will oversee the company’s slate of premium documentaries, including Hunting Gray Glitter for Netflix. She joins from Dorothy St Pictures, where she was senior VP of documentaries.

Her credits from her time at Dorothy St Pictures include Disney+’s Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story, Netflix’s The Devil on Trial and Prime Video’s Desperately Seeking Soulmate: Escaping Twin Flames Universe.

Prior to that, Starbuck was at Raw TV, where she executive produced the Twinder Swindler, which went on to be nominated for five Emmy Awards. Her credits while there also include Reframed: Marilyn Monroe and Memories of a Murderer: The Nilsen Tapes.

“I worked with Sam a decade ago and have been watching her extraordinary documentary output since then,” said Sanjay Singhal, chief executive of Voltage TV. “The range and quality of her work is unrivaled. There’s a reason the best creatives want to work with her—she’s a precise and perfect fit for us as we’re expanding our factual slate and ambitions.”

Starbuck added, “I’ve always been a huge admirer of Sanjay and his work. This is a really exciting time to be joining Voltage to help expand their growing premium documentary slate.”
