HBO’s Three-Part Docuseries The Mortician Set to Bow in June

The three-part documentary series The Mortician has been set to debut on June 1 on HBO and will be available to stream on Max, with subsequent episodes premiering every Sunday.

The Mortician delves into the dark story of a trusted family-owned funeral home. The series follows David Sconce, who, in the 1980s, took over the family business. Sconce set out to exploit the deceased in a number of ways to expand the business’s earnings. With profit as a motive, the Lamb Funeral Home in Pasadena, California, engaged in years of morally questionable and inhumane practices.

The docuseries features an exclusive interview with Sconce, as he has been newly released from prison. The Mortician explores the omnipresent and lucrative mortuary industry. Featuring an array of interviews with families of the victims and revelations from former employees, The Mortician unravels the scandal behind the Lamb Funeral Home.

The Mortician is directed and executive produced by Joshua Rofé. The executive producers also include Number 19’s Steven J. Berger and Strong Baby’s Jonah Hill and Matt Dines.
