ScoreG & Super Channel Team for Arturo Gatti Docuseries

ScoreG Productions and Super Channel have partnered for the three-part true-crime docuseries Thunder: The Life and Death of Arturo Gatti.

The docuseries will chronicle the boxer’s life and career, with never-before-seen evidence surrounding his mysterious death. It follows his story from the Italian neighborhood of St. Leonard in Montréal to the boxing rings of New Jersey, through to his tragic death at the age of 37.

Thunder: The Life and Death of Arturo Gatti will finish production in early 2022 in partnership with Super Channel in Canada. The documentary series is written and directed by Guillaume Carlier (Borrowed From Nature) of Kino Sum and produced by Alex Orlando (Histoires de Chars). The series is also produced by Adam Scorgie and Shane Fennessey of ScoreG Productions.

Orlando said: “I am an Italo-Canadian who grew up in the same neighborhood as Arturo Gatti and, while I did not know him personally, I have researched him extensively and have a great sense of who he was. I have invested a big part of myself in this series because I really hope to honor him, his kids, his family and his friends with the truth and not the story.”

Carlier said: “There are facts that we have discovered which have not been widely or appropriately discussed in this case. To me, Thunder is a chance to give a voice to the people who Arturo left behind, the people who were betrayed by the journalists who initially covered the story and betrayed by the fallout of justice from Canada and Brazil.”

Scorgie and Fennessey added: “Our team at ScoreG Productions is always looking for stories that supplant conventional thinking and make the viewer question what they thought they once knew. When Guillaume and Alex brought the Arturo Gatti project to us, we were immediately hooked. Once you start learning about Arturo and his death, you can’t help but be gripped with an insatiable desire to learn more.”
