Rogan Productions (Grenfell Uncovered, Backlash: The Murder of George Floyd) has tapped A Deadly American Marriage director Jenny Popplewell as its head of factual.

Popplewell, who also directed Netflix’s What Jennifer Did and the BAFTA-nominated American Murder: The Family Next Door, will lead the development and delivery of human-led stories that aim to challenge perspectives and start conversation.

She will report to James Rogan, creative director, and work alongside Mark Hedgecoe, head of Rogan Scotland, and Nicholas Franklin, head of production.

Popplewell’s credits also include the BBC documentary Jamie: Drag Queen at 16, which inspired the award-winning West End musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie. She previously served as head of popular factual at KnickerbockerGlory, where she played a key role in shaping the company’s creative direction and oversaw a wide slate of successful productions.

“We are delighted that Jenny has agreed to join the London team at Rogan, bringing with her an impressive track record of some of the most watched and memorable documentary and popular factual films in recent times,” said Soleta Rogan, managing director of Rogan Productions. “We look forward to Jenny helping to drive and support our ever-expanding remit of output over the next stage in Rogan’s growth.”

Popplewell said, “I’ve long admired Rogan Productions for their quality and integrity. They’ve earned their reputation as one of the industry’s eminent production companies. I’m excited to join such a talented team and help create bold, engaging programs that resonate globally.”
