FilmRise and Sky Studios have partnered to co-produce the docuseries Bloodline Detectives, the first show to explore familial DNA searching and testing.

Produced by Peninsula Television (Evidence of Evil, Teens Who Kill, Celebrity Obsessed), Bloodline Detective is the first series in the genre that focuses on familial DNA investigation, a search technique that uses genetic material from relatives to track down suspects in violent crimes. Each of the 20 hour-long episodes shows detectives from all over the world solving cold cases by using the DNA of family members and how that additional DNA information is revolutionizing genetic profiling to solve criminal cases.

Each episode in the series opens with a violent crime that was committed for an unknown reason, taken from highly publicized cold cases in the U.S. and the U.K. With the help of the forensic scientists walking viewers (and the detectives) through the new DNA analysis, viewers are led to a resolution of a criminal case.

Discovery UK is in place as the series’ U.K. funding partner.

FilmRise will retain all sales and distribution rights to the series exclusively in North America, except physical home videos. Outside of North America, NBCUniversal Global Distribution will handle sales on behalf of Sky Studios and FilmRise.
