China International Television Corporation (CITVC), BBC Studios, EOS Films and Oxford Scientific Films are collaborating on the three-part nature documentary series China: Nature’s Ancient Kingdom.

BBC Studios has invested in the series and will handle the distribution rights outside of Greater China, launching globally in fall 2020. The series is currently being filmed in China and explores the country as well as some of their earliest known animals. The joint international and domestic crews are currently in the Shennongjia National Park, the Northeast Tiger and Leopard National Park, and the Giant Panda National Park for their fall and winter shoots. Filming and production will finish in September 2020.

Lynn Zhang, VP at CHNPEC, the TV program marketing department of CITVC, stated: “CITVC is thrilled to partner with EOS Films and Oxford Scientific Films and BBC Films to co-produce the fantastic new series China: Nature’s Ancient Kingdom, where we explore our country’s beautiful nature, home to one of the oldest civilizations on earth as well as some of the rarest animals on earth. We are also excited that BBC Studios will distribute this beautiful series outside of Greater China. China is proud to be creating ten new national parks to protect the unique environments that house these special animals. We will take a close look at their history and current lives, working with some of the best producers in the world.”
