A+E Networks Ups Christian Murphy to Head of Enthusiast Brands

A+E Networks has promoted Christian Murphy, formerly the senior VP of daytime and programming partnerships, to the newly created position of head of enthusiast brands.

In his new role, Murphy will oversee programming and strategy that focuses on creating branded destination dayparts and building audiences across the enthusiast genres, while exploring new categories of enthusiast content. He will also continue to oversee and expand A+E Network’s three existing branded programming blocks: Home.Made., Drive and Outdoors.

Rob Sharenow, president of programming at A+E Networks, and Jim Hoffman, senior VP of programming partnerships at A+E Networks, to whom Murphy will jointly report, said in a statement: “Christian is breaking new ground when it comes to content production through innovative partnerships with producers, brands, businesses and investors. His team is creating new models that are leading to significant original content and generating non-traditional revenue streams. As our industry evolves, there has never been a more important time to take a new approach to content production.
