Univision Executives, Novela Star Set for NATPE Session

NEW YORK: At NATPE on Wednesday, January 25, at 9 a.m., Jessica Rodríguez, the senior VP at Univision Communications; Carlos Sotomayor, the executive producer at Univision Studios; and Blanca Soto, the star of Univision’s new novela El talismán, will take part in a Coffee With session with TV Latina’s Rafael Blanco.

In the Coffee With: Univision—Inside Television’s Hottest Genre: Novelas, Rodríguez and Sotomayor will talk about the growing popularity of the genre, it’s appeal and why prime-time novelas are some of the most viewed productions on the air.

The impact the U.S. Hispanic market has had on Spanish-language content and the challenges of making novelas to satisfy such a diverse demo in the U.S. will also be part of the discussion. Actress Blanca Soto will also talk about her experience working in novelas, her reasons for picking the genre to start her career and the challenges moving forward as novelas continue to grow.

The session will take place from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. poolside at the Fontainebleau Hotel.
