MENA OTT Revenues to Double by 2028

The OTT streaming of TV episodes and movies in the Middle East and North Africa will generate revenues of $5.7 billion by 2028, up from $2.8 billion last year, according to Digital TV Research.

More than half of those revenues (55 percent) will come from Turkey, Israel and Saudi Arabia. The 13 Arabic-speaking countries will generate $2.47 billion in 2028; up from $1.28 billion in 2022.

AVOD revenues are set to rise from $635 million last year to $1.55 billion, much of it from Turkey (62 percent), with Israel at 11 percent and Saudi Arabia at 10 percent. SVOD will remain the dominant platform by revenues, rising from $2 billion to $3.8 billion.

Simon Murray, principal analyst at Digital TV Research, commented: “We forecast 42 million SVOD subscriptions by 2028, double from 21 million at end-2022. Netflix will have 11 million subscribers by 2028. Disney+ started in the Arabic countries, Israel and Turkey in 2022, with 7.22 million subscribers expected by 2028.”
