DISCOP Johannesburg 2017 to Spotlight VR

DISCOP Johannesburg is partnering with DigiLab Africa (DLA), INVR.SPACE and others to highlight virtual reality (VR) in the African content scene at the upcoming market.

Following a successful DigiLab Africa event at DISCOP Abidjan, there will be an expanded program at DISCOP Johannesburg. The five DLA 2016 winners will also be showcased at DISCOP Johannesburg.

DISCOP Johannesburg is also partnering with German company INVR.SPACE, which will host the VR Cinema within the Germany Pavilion. It will showcase African, German and other global VR projects ranging from documentaries, feature films, animation and more. The New Dimensions projects will also be showcased through the VR Cinema in partnership with the Goethe-Institut Johannesburg and Electric South.

Experts from across Africa will discuss the latest trends and provide key information for content producers or buyers looking to do business in the VR space. Participants include producer Steven Markovitz; Ulrico Grech-Cumbo, founder of Deep VR; German journalist, photographer and filmmaker Julia Leeb; Morgan Bouchet, the director of digital content and head of VR at Orange; and Sönke Kirchhof, CEO and executive producer at INVR.SPACE. In conjunction with these partners and experts, DISCOP Johannesburg will present two masterclasses, Virtual Reality: Tech, Africa and Future, and Get Ready for the Virtual Reality Revolution.
