NEW YORK: The Mexico vs. Netherlands World Cup match over the weekend was the most-viewed telecast in U.S. Spanish-language history, according to Univision.

The gripping game that eventually saw the Netherlands make it through to the quarter finals was watched by 10.4 million people on Univision, including 5.8 million in the 18 to 49 demo. The previous most-watched telecast in U.S. Spanish-language history was Destilando Amor in 2007 and the most-watched World Cup match on Univision was Mexico vs. Argentina in 2010.

More people tuned in to Univision than ESPN to watch the game, the Hispanic broadcaster says, with ESPN scoring 6.6 million total viewers for the match.
