MIRAMAR: Telemundo Station Group has launched TeleXitos, a new multicast network that will showcase action and adventure TV shows and movies in Spanish.

TeleXitos will initially be available across 16 TV markets on the multicast channels of local Telemundo stations and will later be released to stations across the country. TV veteran Barbara Alfonso was also named director of the new network, with overall responsibility for programming, sales and digital operations.

At launch, the network is expected to reach nearly 20 million total households, including more than 4.5 million Hispanic households across the country. The channel’s round-the-clock programming will complement existing Telemundo content. TV shows lined up for the network include Miami Vice, The A-Team, VIP, Hercules and Homicide: Life On The Streets. TeleXitos will also feature movies such as Hulk, The Interpreter, The Musketeer and Van Helsing.

“We have designed TeleXitos with our viewers’ interests at the center,” Alfonso said. “Our network’s programming ensures that our viewers not only have access to a mix of the greatest action television series and feature films, but that they have access to them in Spanish. It is very exciting and humbling to be part of this new era of Spanish-language television the Telemundo Station Group is ushering in here in the United States.”
