Telefónica Adds Sony Content to VOD Platforms in Latin America

MADRID: Films such as The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Moneyball are headed to Telefónica VOD platforms in Latin America through a new deal signed with Sony Pictures.

The Telefónica and Terra video-on-demand platforms in Latin American countries will feature Sony Pictures’ feature film content, including new releases, on a pay-per-view basis. Subscribers to the monthly subscription services will have access to a range of library films and series. Titles covered as part of the VOD pact include The Smurfs as well as the upcoming Men in Black III and The Amazing Spider-Man. Multi-screen access will be offered as well through online TV, tablets, PCs, smartphones and game consoles.

For Alfonso Pérez Soto, head of Content Corporate Unit (CCU) at Telefónica Digital, “this agreement will strengthen the partnership between Telefónica and Sony Pictures to develop access services to audiovisual content on demand. Both companies are working on innovative models to exploit their content catalogues to offer Telefónica users a unique experience. “
