NEW YORK: NUVOtv, a U.S. English-language channel for Latinos, is expanding its production partnerships with singer/actress Jennifer Lopez and actor Mario Lopez for its 2014-15 season.

Jennifer Lopez, who joined the network last year as its chief creative officer, will serve as executive producer on two new series: Los Jets, a documentary with an immigration story line premiering July 16, and the talent competition Sensation (working title), set to debut Q2 2015. Her Nuyorican Productions outfit will also oversee a new season of the dance-themed A Step Away for a 2015 premiere and the new run of DJ showcase The Collective, Powered by VEVO, airing later this year.

The network’s other celebrity partnership is with Mario Lopez, whose Gordo Productions is set to develop the docuseries Tequila King for a Q4 premiere, along with renewals of competitive-dance series Love & Salsa and interview show Mario Lopez: One-on-One. Both of those are scheduled to air next year.

Additional renewals include new seasons of Stand Up & Deliver and Knockout. The network will also air boxing specials under the Knockout brand starting June 7 and original comedy specials in partnership with Levity Entertainment Group.

“The coming television season marks a significant milestone in the development of NUVOtv as a network that offers rich and diverse programming focused on Latino culture and entertainment with universal appeal,” said Michael Schwimmer, the network’s CEO. “We have more than doubled down on our original programming efforts since last year’s Upfront. Our commitment to the future of NUVOtv is complemented by the purchase of Fuse and we’re excited about what’s ahead for both networks.”

“As NUVOtv evolves we are striving to create content with themes and stories that are unique to our audience,” Jennifer Lopez said. “I'm looking forward to showing our growth and development from last year by presenting our new slate of original programming.”
