SANTA MONICA: Televisa USA, Grupo Televisa’s English-language-programming subsidiary, has hired Jonathan South as director of worldwide sales and David Sigurani as director of scripted development, two newly created roles.

South will head the acquisitions and sales of Grupo Televisa’s English-language original series earmarked for the global market, while Sigurani will develop Grupo Televisa’s vast library of international formats into scripted series, as well as search for third-party content. Additionally, Sigurani will work with Carmen Cervantes, the director of special projects, to oversee unscripted development/production and manage Latin talent relationships with international crossover appeal. Both executives will report to Chris Philip, the head of production and distribution for Televisa USA.

South joins Televisa USA from U.K.-based on-demand subscription service Magine AB, where he served as senior VP of content. Sigurani, meanwhile, previously held production and development posts at Cutler Productions and Prospect Park. Among his new responsibilities is overseeing Televisa USA’s roles in its co-productions, Lifetime’s Devious Maids and ABC Family’s Chasing Life.

“Jonathan and David’s wealth of experience, knowledge and strong relationships are invaluable as we undergo a substantial expansion of our global English-language scripted development and production,” Philip said.
