International Artist Lucero to Host New Telemundo Song Competition

MIAMI: Award-winning singer and actress Lucero is set to host Telemundo's new musical competition I Am the Artist (Yo soy el artista), which is slated to premiere in September.

The Mexican artist joins the Sunday prime-time reality competition as a master of ceremonies, where she’ll also have a say in each contestant’s future. Lucero previously served as a coach in the first season of the singing competition La Voz Mexico.

Telemundo partnered with Spain’s Reset TV to develop and produce the reality show. Castings for the program recently ended across major cities in the U.S. and Puerto Rico.

“Lucero embodies the essence of what we call a true artist,” said Jesus Torres Viera, the executive VP of programming at Telemundo. “Her successful career in acting, singing and performing, together with her charismatic and charming on-stage persona make her the ideal MC for this revolutionary show.”
