Doctor Who, Sherlock & More Land on Free TV in Brazil

MIAMI: BBC Worldwide has inked a new content deal with TV Cultura that will see such hit series as Doctor Who and Sherlock airing on the Brazilian free-TV broadcaster.

The agreement includes a package containing eight seasons of Doctor Who and three seasons of Sherlock. These shows are two of the BBC’s most successful worldwide franchises.

Fred Medina, the executive VP and managing director of BBC Worldwide Latin America and U.S. Hispanic, remarked: “After 50 years of production, Doctor Who connects with Brazilian audiences. This important market values BBC drama, from classic series such as Doctor Who to modern productions like Sherlock, which will be now also available on free TV in Brazil as part of this new deal with TV Cultura.”

The agreement also includes such popular kids’ titles as Andy’s Wild, Andy’s Dinosaur and Charlie and Lola.
