MIAMI: Comedy Central will start broadcasting in Latin America as of February 1, delivering programming from the U.S. channel, acquisitions, local productions and more.

The channel will be available in Spanish and Portuguese. Its initial on-air launch will reach 10 million subscribers across the region, including in Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador and Venezuela. The initial programming slate will include U.S. hits such as Happily Divorced, The Exes and South Park as well as original productions, among them La Familia del Barrio and The Spooky Show

The channel is being launched by Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) The Americas. "VIMN’s mission is to take world-class brands and content and deliver them in culturally and geographically relevant ways, and the launch of Comedy Central in Latin America is the latest example of this," said Sofia Ioannou, the managing director at VIMN The Americas. "This strategy strengthens the ongoing dialogue we have with our clients and affiliates in the region and broadens our portfolio to now include a new, multiplatform, comedy entertainment brand for the young-adult demo."
