MIAMI: A division of Carlos Slim’s telco América Móvil is planning to launch a new channel in the U.S. this year targeted at Mexican viewers.

Operated by Publicidad y Contenido Editorial, Nuestra Visión will feature Mexican content, including movies, sports and news. It will tap into a library of some 2,000 titles, both classics and contempory hits. News and sports programming will come from Uno TV and Claro Sports. A statement from the company says the channel aims to “promote a unique and authentic experience by showcasing and celebrating the Mexican heritage.”

“The Mexican population represents the most significant segment of Hispanic minorities in the United States,” said Victor Herrera, who heads up affiliate relations at Nuestra Visión. “For that reason, we strongly believe Nuestra Visión will become the choice for A, B, C, and D+ audiences, reaching every age group in an entire family with its programming. Because we know their preferences, customs, entertainment and communication needs, we are able to provide customized and authentic content.”
