ABTA Expo & Conference 2014 Kicks Off in São Paulo

SÃO PAULO: Today, the Transamérica Expo Center opened its doors for the new edition of the ABTA Expo & Conference 2014, which brings together leading exhibitors from the pay-TV industry in Latin America and which this year includes panel sessions dedicated exclusively to the issue of advertising.

The discussions will cover important topics such as the impact of the new scenario for the advertising industry and advertisers, how to ensure the proportionality of a channel’s audience shares and the space that can be occupied by programmers and channels in a new context. Professionals from leading companies such as Turner, Globosat, Discovery Networks and Abap will be discussing these issues.

The opening panel, entitled The Challenges of Inclusion and Expansion Services, will feature Oscar Simões, the president of ABTA, and invited panelists Marta Suplicy, the minister of culture; Paulo Bernardo, the minister of communications; João Rezende, the president of Anatel; and Manoel Rangel, the president of ANCINE.

Another panel, Strategies of Growth, will be divided into two blocks led by José Felix, the president of Net Serviços; Fernando Medin, the executive VP of Discovery Networks Latin America/U.S. Hispanic; Carlos Zenteno, the president of Claro; Daniel Chalfon, partner and VP of Loducca, and president of Grupo de Mídia; Alberto Pecegueiro, the CEO of Globosat; and Andrea Barata Ribeiro, a partner at O2. The moderators will be Lucas Mendes and Ricardo Amorim.

As a new main attraction of the 2014 edition of ABTA, Mendes and Amorim, hosts of the Brazilian television program Manhattan Connection, will interview attendees on a live talk show. Another new event is the Showcase Arena, a space for the presentation of studies and products.

Among the exhibitors this year are ESPN, Intel, Media Hub and Conax, who will present their new products and services, along with future projects, during the three days of the expo. Intel promises to unveil its new technology in the area of processors, including the first “conflict-free” microprocessor in the world. Media Hub will be promoting its new partnership with Mauricio de Sousa Produções, which will deliver new offerings to its consumers, as well as other news related to their products and services.

The ABTA Expo & Conference 2014 takes place in São Paulo through Thursday, August 7.
