Univision Taps DISH Alum for Global Platform Strategy

Univision Communications has appointed DISH Media alum Michael Schwimmer as president of global platform strategy and revenue.

In the newly created position, Schwimmer will centralize distribution of the company’s platform, content offerings and sales opportunities that drive revenue growth. Prior to joining Univision, Schwimmer was executive VP of DISH Media and group president of Sling TV.

Previously, Schwimmer was the president and CEO of Fuse Media and led programming, marketing and media sales for DISH Network. He is currently on the Board of the National Association of Television Program Executives (NATPE) and a member of the NAACP Entertainment Industry Board of Advisors.

As president of global platform strategy and revenue at Univision, Schwimmer will report directly to CEO Wade Davis. He will also work closely with President and Chief Transformation Officer Pierluigi Gazzolo on global app distribution for the company’s two-tiered streaming service, scheduled to launch this year.
