LONDON: SPI International's VOD service FilmBox Live is now available on PlayStation 4 (PS4) platforms in Turkey, Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Bulgaria, Croatia and Slovenia.

PS4 users in those territories now have unlimited access to a hefty selection of movies, television series and thematic videos. Titles available in Poland include Magic Mike and Top of the Lake. In Hungary, the service is offering up The Ides of March, while Turkish subscribers can enjoy The Hunger Games. FilmBox Live was already accessible on PlayStation 3.

"We are thrilled to make our FilmBox Live app available on PS4 and bring our content to many more people in the community throughout the CEE and Turkey," said Berk Uziyel, the executive director at Filmbox International. "We are very pleased to offer the PS4 users who will choose to subscribe to FilmBox Live a true variety of really impressive movies and TV series in addition to a huge library of other videos and TV content."

In other news, SPI International has revealed that it is changing the name of its FilmBox Extra channel to FilmBox Premium in Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Romania. The move follows an internal brand review, which suggested that the broadcaster's flagship premium network should clearly stand out from the other FilmBox channels available in the basic, EBS and premium tiers in the region. FilmBox Premium will be offered by most of the DTH platforms and large cable networks in the five countries. It will carry a variety of Hollywood and international blockbusters; TV shows from the U.S., U.K. and Australia; and indie films from Europe and Asia.

"We are currently negotiating new acquisition deals with major U.S. distributors and we expect to air a number of first-run feature movies on FilmBox Premium by the end of this year," noted Uziyel. "We want to make sure that our subscribers have total clarity as to which one of our numerous channels carries the most recent movie premieres and new TV series."
