LONDON: DRG has landed a first-look deal with NRK that sees it become the exclusive representative for the Norwegian broadcaster's entire scripted catalogue, including finished programs and formats.

DRG has an existing agreement with the Norwegian broadcaster for the exclusive rights for its non-scripted formats. As part of the deal, DRG has picked up the international rights for the new scripted format Eyewitness, a Nordic noir thriller.

Ole Hedemann, the head of format development at NRK, said, “As a license-funded public service broadcaster, it’s not just about the money for NRK. It’s also about benchmarking our creativity against the world, by making international success stories and building pride of being a part of NRK’s creative staff. DRG helps us reach all of these targets.

"We have enjoyed a strong partnership with DRG over the last three years and have been impressed with the results achieved so far. It makes us visible in the marketplace and represents us just the way a public service broadcaster wants—to the highest standard. So we thought why not do more of a thing that works so well for the both of us? DRG is rapidly expanding, and we are excited to be part of its journey. We wanted to be big with just one distributor, and this deal allows for that.”

Jeremy Fox, the CEO at DRG, added, “We had to prove that DRG was the best fit for NRK. So, over the past three years, not only have we been selling NRK's non-scripted formats successfully, we have also demonstrated that we are longstanding partners. Now we’ve moved to the next stage of that relationship, just as the global demand for Scandinavian drama accelerates. So, stay tuned for a very exciting slate of new projects to follow. ”
