LOS ANGELES/ROME: In June 2014, SDI Media is set to open a new custom-designed, full service dubbing facility in Rome.

The company has already hired employees for SDI Media Rome, which has begun production in the historical Il Messaggero newspaper building in the center of the city. The studios will kick off operations with five fully-equipped recording rooms meant for broadcast, theatrical and home entertainment outlets. There will also be an additional mixing room for broadcast services.

A second phase of building for SDI Media Rome will take place later in the year, which will result in a total of ten recording rooms and five mixing rooms, including a state-of-the-art theatrical mixing suite.

"The timing is right for SDI Media to enter Rome; we have an opportunity to become the leading localization provider in the territory and we have found a fantastic team and a great location to strengthen our presence in Italy," stated Walter Schonfeld, the CEO of SDI Media. "Moving into the historical Il Messaggero building also has significance for us, as we are privileged to take over the previous home of one of Rome's most historically important media outlets."
