BBC Three Picks Up Awkwafina Is Nora From Queens

The comedy Awkwafina Is Nora From Queens, which features Golden Globe winner and rapper Awkwafina (Crazy Rich Asians, Ocean’s Eight, The Farewell), has been licensed by BBC Three in the U.K.

Through a deal signed by ViacomCBS International Studios, the show will be available to stream exclusively on BBC iPlayer in the U.K. later this year. Created by Awkwafina, the 10×25-minute series is directed by Lucia Aniello, Natasha Lyonne and Steven K. Tsuchida. The show was produced by Comedy Central and the executive producers are Awkawfina, Karey Dornetto, Teresa Hsiao and Peter Principato.

Sue Deeks, head of BBC program acquisition, said: “Awkwafina Is Nora From Queens is fresh, funny and very engaging—we are delighted that the series is joining BBC Three’s strong and distinctive comedy lineup.”
