Spain Gears Up for Round Two of Conecta FICTION

The second edition of Conecta FICTION is taking place from June 18 to 21 in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, where execs from Europe and the Americas will unite with a focus on the creation, development and production of scripted series.

Some 400 participants from 17 countries are expected at the event, which has seen an increased international and European presence. Attendees will include producers, OTT platforms, investors, creatives, distributors, scriptwriters, talent agents and reps from more than 35 international television channels. Participation has also been confirmed by the main Spanish TV groups: RTVE, Atresmedia, Mediaset, Movistar +, as well as the collaboration of TVG (Televisión de Galicia) and Grupo Secuoya.

Among many highlights, there will be five different pitching sessions and a creativity contest to boost the co-production and talent market. The two countries that will be spotlighted under Focus On are Colombia and Germany, with series projections set for both. TVE will premiere a chapter of its forthcoming show LIMBO at the opening gala, while Telemundo International Studios is having an exclusive screening of its first premium series El Recluso.

Another highlight is Conecta FICTION Fest (June 21 to 22). The first edition is exclusively dedicated to Movistar+ content. In addition to screenings, it will offer two workshops focused on the special effects in La Peste and the transmedia universe of La Zona and La Peste. There will also be a costume exhibition and festival participation from such famed actors as Aura Garrido (El Ministerio del Tiempo), Javier Rey (Velvet) and Marta Hazas (Velvet).

Geraldine Gonard, the director of Conecta FICTION, remarked: “Conecta FICTION’s first edition was very useful for its participants, offering a networking opportunity between producers and talent and we know that it really worked. Our priority for this edition is to maximize Conecta’s usefulness as a contact platform between Europe and America. To achieve this, we are creating and implementing activities that improve the culture of co-production and foster a unique and intensely productive work environment. This is the formula with which we want to identify ourselves and with which we want to help companies improve their results.”
