Mediapro Lands French Soccer Rights

Mediapro has picked up the rights for French Ligue 1 football from 2020 to 2024, snatching the games away from Canal+.

The Mediapro deal with LFP covers nine matches each matchday for four seasons. Of the nine, eight will be exclusive. The Spanish company plans to set up a new channel for its Ligue 1 coverage. A package of rights also went to beIN Media Group.

According to reports, the LFP rights auction for Ligue 1 coverage will bring in 1.15 billion euros per season from 2020 to 2024, a 60-percent increase on the 2016 to 2020 auction.
