The Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) has granted Amazon Prime Video in France the rights to 304 Ligue 1 Uber Eats matches per season through 2023/24.

The deal also includes 304 Ligue 2 BKT matches per season. Vincent Labrune, president of the LFP, noted, “This decision, taken unanimously by the board of directors minus one abstention, allows French football to benefit from the arrival of a new major player, Amazon. The arrival of this new player alongside our long-standing partner Canal+ promises the future for the future development of French professional football and the attractiveness of our competitions.”

Canal+ Group had reached a deal with LFP for 76 Ligue 1 Uber Eats matches per season. However, according to local press reports, the platform has now said it will not carry Ligue 1 next season.

“After the failure of the choice of Mediapro in 2018, Canal+ regrets the decision of the Ligue de Football Professionnel to accept the bid of Amazon to the detriment of that of its historical partners Canal+ and beIN Sports,” Canal+ said in a statement to France 24.
