BBC WW Bringing McMafia Stars, Mitchell & Webb to MIPCOM

BBC Worldwide (BBC WW) is bringing a range of talent to MIPCOM to launch its key scripted titles, including James Norton (War and Peace) and Juliet Rylance (Days and Nights), who will join writer Hossein Amini to introduce McMafia.

The drama McMafia exposes a global network of organized crime, inspired by the insider interviews in Misha Glenny’s best-selling book. Amini and stars Norton and Rylance will take part in a special event to launch the show.

The British comedy duo David Mitchell and Robert Webb (Peep Show) will be at MIPCOM to promote the new six-part comedy series Back, written by Emmy winner Simon Blackwell (Veep).

BBC Worldwide will be hosting an event for the six-part drama The Split, with BAFTA- and Primetime Emmy Award-winning writer Abi Morgan (The Hour) and BAFTA-winning executive producer Jane Featherstone (Broadchurch).

Ahead of MIPCOM, BBC Worldwide has licensed Three Girls to Franco-German public broadcaster ARTE. A sale for the six-part drama The Last Post is also confirmed with Australia’s public broadcaster ABC.

BBC Worldwide’s director of scripted, Liam Keelan, commented: “It’s fantastic to have such an amazing and varied slate at MIPCOM this year. Only BBC Worldwide could have this range of shows, including Hossein Amini’s McMafia, Abi Morgan’s The Split and Simon Blackwell’s Back. It’s set to be one of our busiest and rewarding markets and we’re really proud to be hosting such a strong lineup of on- and off-screen talent.”
