STOCKHOLM: Modern Times Group (MTG) and Dorna Sports have renewed their partnership that sees the broadcasting group remain home to MotoGP in Scandinavia and the Baltics.

The world’s fastest motorcycle sport will continue to air on MTG’s sports channel Viasat Motor and video streaming service Viaplay in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and the Baltics throughout the 2017 to 2019 seasons. The FIM MotoGP World Championship season covers 18 Grand Prix races in 15 countries, with 11 teams and 23 racers.

Peter Nørrelund, MTG’s executive VP and CEO of MTG Sport, said: “Nothing engages audiences more than live sport—and MotoGP is one of the world’s most exciting motorsport competitions. These rights are the perfect complement to our fantastic Formula 1 coverage, and mean that MTG will continue to offer viewers the very best of motorsport on both two and four wheels.”

Manel Arroyo, the managing director for the media area at Dorna Sports, commented: “We are delighted to announce that MotoGP will remain on Viasat Motor and Viaplay in Scandinavia and the Baltics for another three years. This renewal means racing enthusiasts in these countries can continue to enjoy all the thrills of the world’s fastest two-wheel motorcycle championship. The upcoming season promises to be just as action-packed as this year, and we are pleased that our partnership with MTG means fans in Northern Europe will never miss any of the action.”
