BBC Two Orders Nigel Farage Mockumentary

EDINBURGH/LONDON: Endemol Shine Group’s Zeppotron has been commissioned by BBC Two to produce the new scripted comedy Nigel Farage Gets His Life Back, which pokes fun at the titular British politician.

Nigel Farage Gets His Life Back stars Kevin Bishop (Porridge, The Rack Pack) as Farage, who, after Britain voted to leave the European Union this summer, resigned as leader of the UK Independence Party (UKIP) so he could get his “life back.” The 30-minute fly-on-the-wall mockumentary portrays both the public and private life of the controversial figure.

Peter Holmes, the managing director of Zeppotron, said: “This project couldn’t feel more relevant. Nigel Farage has had a huge part to play in the momentous political events of recent times, and everybody has an opinion of him. We hope we can create a lot of laughter while painting a portrait of such a divisive figure as he fills the empty hours of retirement.”

Bishop added: “I’m delighted to be playing a character as colorful as Farage. He’s a gift to parody and I’m looking forward to bringing previously unseen aspects of his life to the screen.”

Nigel Farage Gets His Life Back was commissioned for BBC Two by Shane Allen, controller of comedy commissioning, and Alex Moody, commissioning editor for BBC Comedy. The mockumentary is penned by The Rack Pack‘s Alan Connor and Shaun Pye. It is produced by Kate Daughton (Toast of London) and executive produced by Holmes (The Rack Pack).
