LONDON: Content Media Corporation has inked an exclusive first-look pact with producers Deadpan Pictures.

The agreement sees Content gain first-look distribution rights to represent six of Deadpan Pictures’s original productions for the international TV market. Deadpan, which is behind such productions as Moone Boy, will work with Content to develop and distribute six original scripted comedy/drama projects, with a number of series already in development. Projects will be distributed by Content Television and Digital.

Content will distribute Deadpan’s new 6×30-minute drama Can’t Cope Won’t Cope. Commissioned by RTÉ 2 with the support of the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland and currently in production, the series follows two girls, Aisling and Danielle, as they navigate Dublin and the perilous waters of adulthood.

Paul Donovan, the managing director at Deadpan Pictures, commented: “This deal is an exciting first for an Irish company and a big endorsement of both the creative talent and the slate of projects Deadpan Pictures is developing. We are really looking forward to working with such a reputable company as Content in order to deliver character-driven stories told with humor and an Irish twist to an international audience.”

Greg Phillips, the president at Content Television, added: “We’re very pleased to announce this important new partnership with the team at Deadpan Pictures. Paul and Ailish [McElmeel, Deadpan’s producer and company director] have built a fantastic reputation for delivering internationally appealing dramas, picking up accolades across the world. We’re confident that this slate of fresh and distinctive prime-time projects will resonate very well across multiple territories and platforms, and look forward to showcasing these to our global clients.”
