Wolf Hall Scores Double BAFTA TV Wins

LONDON: The British Academy of Film and Television Arts presented its TV awards, with Wolf Hall scoring two wins.

Wolf Hall’s Mark Rylance scored a win for leading actor, while Doctor Foster star Suranne Jones won for leading actress. Supporting nods went to Tom Courtenay (Unforgotten) and Chanel Cresswell (This Is England ’90). Also scoring performance wins are Celebrity Juice’s Leigh Francis (entertainment performance), Chewing Gum’s Michaela Coel (female performance in a comedy program) and Peter Kay of Peter Kay’s Car Share (male performance in a comedy).

Wolf Hall took home the award for drama series. Don’t Take My Baby won for single drama and EastEnders for soap and continuing drama. This Is England ’90 was the winner in the miniseries category. Transparent scored the award for international series.

Peter Kay’s Car Share won for best scripted comedy. Have I Got News For You was the winner in the category of comedy and comedy entertainment program.

Winners in the factual arena include The Murder Detectives (factual series), Britain’s Forgotten Slave Owners (specialist factual), My Son The Jihadi (single documentary) and First Dates (reality and constructed factual). The Great British Bake Off won for features. Strictly Come Dancing scored the BAFTA TV Award for entertainment program.

The Radio Times audience award (voted for by members of the public) went to Poldark. The special award in honor of Alan Clarke was presented to Lenny Henry.
