TEL AVIV: France’s AB Groupe has picked up both the format rights and the Spanish version of the Dori Media Group scripted comedy Date Blind (Ciega a Citas).

The series tells the story of Lucía, a woman who tries to find a boyfriend before her sister’s wedding. It originally aired in Argentina, with the format being sold into Russia, China and Germany. A Spanish adaptation also aired on Mediaset España’s Cuatro channel.

Nadav Palti, the CEO and president of Dori Media Group, commented: “Ciega a Citas has already achieved great international success and this latest sale to France’s AB Groupe demonstrates just how versatile the format is. We are sure the show will be as popular in France as it has been in other parts of the world and are confident the format’s international reach will continue to expand.”

Richard Maroko, AB Groupe’s executive VP of programs, added: “This is a great opportunity for AB Droits Audiovisuels to acquire the rights to one of today’s most original and creative series and to distribute the series on the French-speaking European market. It is a new step in our strategy to add premium programming to our portfolio.”
