LONDON: Scripps Networks UK & EMEA has announced the transition to MPEG4 compression that will see the launch of Polsat Food Network HD and Travel Channel HD on Polish pay-TV provider Cyfrowy Polsat later this year.

Polsat Food Network HD and Travel Channel HD in MPEG4 format will replace their SD satellite counterpart channels. They will be offered on Cyfrowy Polsat as of October 1. Polsat Food Network SD and Travel Channel SD in MPEG4 and MPEG2 will continue to be available to cable network subscribers through PLIX, the only neutral commercial Internet Exchange Point in Poland.

Polsat Food Network HD will provide new viewers with such popular shows as Chopped, Bake with Anna Olson and Jeni and Olly's West Coast Wine Adventure, as well as the local hits Ewa Cooks, Okrassa Reinvents Recipes and What to Cook: Robert Maklowicz. Travel Channel HD will feature World's Greatest Motorcycle Rides, Baggage Battles, House Hunters International and Extreme Vacation Homes, among other titles.

"Poland continues to be a key market for us and after the successful launch of the SD channels on the Cyfrowy Polsat platform, the opportunity to further increase the availability of our world class programs in full HD is testament to our commitment to this territory," stated Phillip Luff, the managing director of Scripps Networks UK & EMEA.
