Sky Vision has secured distribution, outside of Spain, for the Movistar+ series La Peste.

La Peste is directed by Alberto Rodríguez, with a screenplay by Rafael Cobos. Set in 16th Century Seville, the series features a detective story where the main character, Mateo, a heretic sentenced by the Inquisition to be burnt at the stake, must solve a number of demonic crimes.

Additionally, Beta will distribute Movistar+’s La zona and About Premium Content will distribute Gigantes.

Domingo Corral, Movistar+’s original programming managing director, said: “We perceive a great deal of interest for every show we decide to produce. For La Peste, La Zona and Gigantes, three of our flagship projects, the choice of a distributor to market each title has not been an easy task. We have assessed several factors such as experience, solvency or international penetration capacity, but what tipped the balance was witnessing how each one of the corporations fell in love with their respective projects.”

Jane Millichip, Sky Vision’s managing director, commented, “We are impressed by Movistar’s commitment to great storytelling. On La Peste, Domingo Corral and his team at Movistar+ have assembled an incredible creative team with a proven track record. The writing partnership of Alberto Rodriguez and Rafael Cobos has once again delivered a deeply engaging story, which delivers a thriller of scale, a pungent sense of the past, and a modernity that will satisfy today’s audience. And the visual template created by Rodriguez and DoP Pau Esteve is simply stunning. Movistar+ is a brilliant and emerging force in drama.”
