Horror Channel Gets Freeview Launch

LONDON: Horror Channel has secured carriage on Freeview in the U.K., making it available to an additional 17 million homes.

The launch marks a 90 percent DTT coverage for Horror Channel in the U.K. The service will join Freeview as of March 13. Recent Horror Channel premieres include Quentin Tarantino’s Death Proof and Guillermo Del Toro’s Pan’s Labyrinth, while iconic series such as the classic Doctor Who and The Incredible Hulk remain favorites among the network's audience. The spring lineup will include the "Apocalypse season" on Horror Channel with Robert Rodriguez’s Planet Terror and Stephen King’s The Stand.

Tanya Gugenheim, the chief business development officer at AMC Networks International Zone, said: “Horror Channel has become the third channel in the CBS AMC Channel portfolio to launch on Freeview within a year, joining CBS Reality and CBS Action and underscoring the demand for our content offering. The channel already boasts a loyal fan base, and we’re pleased to introduce it to a broader audience through Freeview.”

Horror Channel will provide the bravest of our viewers with plenty of thrilling programs alongside cult classics and fantasy favorites for the more faint-hearted.”
