DRG in First-Look Deal with Latimer Films

LONDON: DRG has signed a first-look agreement with the indie producer Latimer Films, taking on distribution for the doc Going to the Dogs.

The one-hour Going to the Dogs is from filmmaker Penny Woolcock for Channel 4's Cutting Edge strand. It explores the criminal subculture of the dog-fighting world.

Matthew Hay, director at Latimer Group and producer of Going to the Dogs, said, "We’re thrilled to be working with such great partners on Going to the Dogs. Penny is an exceptional filmmaker and her approach to shining a light on some of the most challenging and hidden worlds really chimes with what Latimer is about. Given the sensitivities around the subject matter, it was also important to find the right home for the film. In Emma Cooper and the Cutting Edge strand at Channel 4 it feels like we’ve found the perfect fit. Their support for the project has been remarkable. We are also excited to partner with DRG. They understand our vision and totally get what we are about. We look forward to taking the film global and can’t wait to start working on other projects.”

Caitlin Meek-O’Connor, the acquisitions manager at DRG, added, “We are delighted to partner with Latimer Films. As a company, they are fresh, exciting and their vision to co-create with young new talent enables them to understand and reach an audience that today’s broadcasters are desperately looking to connect with. They’re not afraid to challenge boundaries, and have gained unprecedented access which leads to truly unique programming, as demonstrated by the visceral and moving Going to the Dogs, which not only delves deep into the hidden world of dog fighting but also explores the preoccupation with brutality.

At DRG we are looking to foster relationships with young and upcoming companies, to help them grow and share their vision. So we are excited to be a part of Latimer Films’ journey and look forward to sharing such an important documentary globally.”
