LONDON: The U.K.’s ITV2 is bringing in Cockroaches, commissioning the post-apocalyptic comedy from Big Talk Productions.

The 6×30-minute scripted series is set to star Daniel Lawrence Taylor as Tom and Esther Smith as Suze, two teens who survive a nuclear war strike and emerge from a basement ten years later. The show will include appearances from British comedy actors such as Nigel Planer (The Young Ones), Jaime Winstone (Made in Dagenham), Caroline Quentin (Men Behaving Badly) and Dan Renton-Skinner (House of Fools), among many others.

Kenton Allen, Big Talk’s CEO, will exec produce, with Cuckoo’s Ben Taylor directing. ITV Global will handle worldwide distribution.

“I never thought I’d be happy to say we have Cockroaches at ITV2,” said Angela Jain, the director of digital channels and acquisitions for ITV. “I am absolutely delighted to have this new series join the channel as we continue our push into scripted comedy.”

Elaine Bedell, the director of entertainment and comedy for ITV, added: “Cockroaches is a sharp new scripted comedy with a talented young cast, which we’re very happy to have on ITV2.”
